Q: unable to complete latest updates on my ipad 3 as it wont connect to wi-fi which is functioning on other devices

Despite the IPad 3 being on the desk next to this computer that has a working wi-fi connection,it is unable to complete the latest update as it can't make a wi-fi connection. Says to connect to ITunes, but cannot get past it trying to connect to the wi-fi.
