Calendar reverts new events to "New Event" after pressing enter

I have this with the exact same OS set up. Have reported it to Apple.

Calendar can’t enter new event.

I went through that whole sequence. After the very last step, it seemed to help--for about 5-10 minutes, then it started up again. I'm getting to the point where I'm looking for different calendar software to use, since I can't trust this calendar. If I don't wait long enough to make sure the event really stuck, I end up finding events on my calendar a month into the future with just the date and a time marked and no indication what the event is supposed to be.

(I didn't run the Calendar Cleaner at the end of all the other steps. I was concerned that it might trash everything.)

WOW what a L O T to go through to just use my calendar. SAME P R O B L E M. APPLE Y O U. Fix the Cloud problem if that is what it is.

So frustrating to have an "out of the blue" unreliable calendar !!!

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Am having the same problem but it seems to work the 2nd time you insert data. So I just put in a minimum amt of info the first time, hit return and let it revert to New Event, and then go back to put in the complete data. It's a stupid fix but better than wasting time filling in details that will then disappear.

YES, that is what I do also. THE low tech fix.... Enter min. data let it go to new event and then edit that with correct info and that sticks. APPLE (if anyone there) , please fix so that it works in the high tech way!!! 😕

I've noticed that I'm not having a problem when I move (drag & drop) or cut & paste calendar events.

I finally got so annoyed at this that I looked at BusyCal and have decided to switch to both their calendar and their contacts software. Not only does the calendar work, but it has a todo list on the right side of the calendar--a feature I believe iCal had years ago.

Another quick fix which seems to be working well is to go to Calendar...Preferences... and set the Default Calendar to the Selected Calendar. Then you just have to make sure that you have selected the right calendar before you add the New Event and there is no problem.

I think I found a workaround. This same effect was bothering me too. I went so far as to copy the event title before saving because I would have to enter it again. Which always happened, but I'd also have to remember all the other settings, except Calendar. It would remember Calendar. So I tried this: Put in all your event info, but do NOT change the default Calendar. Click outside little window, to save event. Count to 3 and it did not revert to "new event". I've done this a number of times this past week. When 1st setting new event, do NOT change Calendar. Save event. Then go back in and change to whatever Calendar you want. Seems to be holding ok for me now.
