Q: GPU panic while using Premiere Pro

For the past month or so I've been doing a lot of editing in Premiere Pro (CC 2014) on my Mid-2014 Macbook Pro (15", 2.5ghz i7, 16GB) and I've experienced periodic GPU panics. They've ONLY happened when editing in PPro, sometimes when playing back a timeline with lots of effects and sometimes while doing something simple. I run the app with CUDA software acceleration, using the NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M card. The panics are extreme -- they take down the whole computer, forcing a restart.

I'm not sure whether to chalk this up to a CUDA/PPro problem or whether it's indicative of a failing GPU. My laptop wasn't included in the recent Apple recall but it seems like the symptoms are similar. I've been seeing the graphics glitches with CUDA and Yosemite while using PPro, which is a well-documented issue amongst Adobe users. But GPU panics are pretty extreme and I'm wondering if it's actually hardware issue and not a software/driver problem. I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts on this since I need my laptop for work and I don't want to take it in for service unless I absolutely need to (though I do have Applecare).

TIA,

JVK

Log and post the kernel panic per these instructions:

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201753

    That may offer a clue.

    Ciao.

I did have it logged and I can paste it here, but those always seem so damned long and outside of Apple Techs I have yet to run across anyone who can interpret the damned things.

That said, here's a partial Panic report; I've excluded the stuff at the bottom which seems to be more of a system overview and not specifically related to the panic.

Occasionally, there is some germane information, so for future reference, post it all.

Bottom line is that your MBP is having GPU difficulties.  Make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar and have it sorted out.  I trust that the MBP is still in the warranty period.

    Ciao.
