Valid email not supported in Mac Mail

I own a custom domain that has the ".limited" extension. For example: "mark@mydomain.limited". Mac Mail does not allow me to create a new mail account using this email name. My iOS devices support this .limited domain just fine. I am trying to wean myself off Microsoft products but Apple is not making it easy. In the meantime I am forced to use Outlook for Mac to use this email account on my Mac.

Is there any way to get around this or can I expect this to be resolved any time soon?
