Q: Startup issue

Hello all,

I have googled this problem, but my situation is a little different then the ones I've seen and I'm having a hard time figuring out the problem. Any help is appreciated!

About a month ago, I upgraded the RAM and HD in my Mid-2010 White Macbook. Everything was running great!! Until my son bumped the table that my computer was on (mac was turned on and open) and some coffee splashed on the keyboard. I started to wipe it off when the computer shut off. I unplugged it and waited awhile (several days) to turn it back on, but it didn't work. I decided to get a new Macbook (same model) since mine wouldn't turn on or take a charge, and move my HD to the new computer. The HD doesn't seem to be affected because liquid didn't spill near it and doesn't show any liquid damage. But when I transferred my HD into the new Mac, I get a blinking question mark folder. I looked online and know that this is an issue that happens when the HD can't find the proper OS files. Most suggestions says that the HD needs to be formatted and a fresh copy of OS installed, but this is an HD that worked fine before and booted up without issues. Or the other suggestions are from people that have old HDs and they need to be replaced. That's not the case with this one since it's brand new.

Is there something else that could be causing this problem and how can it be fixed? Thanks for your help!

MacBook, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3), Mid-2010 Macbook White Unibody
