synchronizing my contacts on itunes with thunderbird; is that possible ?
I would like to synchronize my contacts on itunes with "Thunderbird " and not Micriosoft outlook.
is that possible ?

iTunes for Windows will only do a local sync of contacts to Outlook as you have found. The best option for Thunderbird is to setup Thunderbird to use a CardDav type account via iCloud or Google Gmail which also supports CardDav. Then also have your mobile device - presumably an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch also link to iCloud.

Other than the above, using something other than iTunes to sync your contacts is the best approach, as an example see BirdieSync http://www.birdiesync.com/ or http://www.copytrans.net/copytranscontacts.php
