Phone freezes during calls

My iPhone 6 has been freezing during phone calls. I can talk and hear a conversation but the screen goes black and I can not end the call or access any features. This has happened a few times. I have to push the power and home button to reset it and make it come back on.

iPhone 6, iOS 8.3

Howdy brnbetty,

It sounds like the iPhone isn't totally freezing as you can continue the conversation you are on but the screen goes black and doesn't respond after that.

Please check out the following articles that discuss that symptom.

Get help with the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If you see a solid color screen (black, white or blue)

  1. Plug in your device to a power source. If you see the low-battery screen when you plug in, let your device charge for at least 10 minutes (20 minutes for iPad) before using it.
  2. Reset your device while it's plugged in.
  3. If resetting doesn’t fix the issue, restore your device.
  4. If you still see the issue after you restore, contact Apple Support.

Of course you are doing the reset to recover so you can go from there.

Best,
