Cannot convert MP3's from iTunes to iPhone5S

iTunes version 12.1.2.27:

Unable to synch library containing 6000+ MP3 files on Windows 8.1 (64-bits) to iPhone 5S (iOS 8.3).

iTunes and MP3's are on a Samsung SSD. iPhone connected directly to PC via original Apple USB cable. No USB hubs.

After about 10% errors pop up stating files cannot be converted. (?!?!?)

I inspected the first couple of files causing the error. They seem fine. Play OK, tags are in order. MP3 CBR 320.

I shift started iTunes and created a new library. No luck.

Any clues?

HI Dennis,

Not sure if you've found a solution elsewhere, but i just stumbled across this and its recent so this info may help.

You shouldn't need to convert any files as, per the below, the example MP3 details you provide are supported. Did you check the original files for errors, corruption?

The MP3 format you are using is the best quality of the lossy MP3 formats at CBR 320kbps and you want to avoid re-converting already compressed audio files as each time you do this there is some degradation. Additionally ITUNES uses the inferior Fraunhofer's algorithm, you should try and use LAME for MP3 wherever possible and again, ideally only from the original loss less file source (WAV, AIF, APE etc)

Also, if your on a PC, why would you use ITUNES, its a terrible piece of software and best avoided. It's slightly better on the MAC, but still substandard compared to what is was several years ago. The idea of sticking with OEM software is nice,an obviously Apples ideology, but ITUNES is like a prison sentence with constant adverts. Perhaps search for an " Itunes alternative" ?

iPhone 5S viewable audio formats:

AAC (8 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Store), HE-AAC, MP3 (8 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3, 4, Audible Enhanced Audio, AAX, and AAX+), Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV.

Dear Bilstrude,

I am not trying to convert MP3 files, iTunes is (for whatever reason). I just want to get the music from my PC and NAS onto my iPhone 5s. There are two ways of doing this that I know of.

1. Via iTunes. This obviously doesn't work as it is failing to convert the files for whatever reason it is trying to convert.

2. Using DS Audio, an app that comes with my Synology NAS.

The issue when using an app to transfer MP3's is that the music is only playable in this app, not in the standard iPhone 'Music' app. But that is not e very tough pill to swollow.

So right now I am using option number 2.

Thanks,

Dennis

Try a utility like copy trans or syncios. There are many others out there but these are lightweight, stable, with simple, clean interfaces and enable you to pull music and other on and of both your device and other people's. My preference is syncios, which is a paid for software, although there is a free trial. And I prefer to use that over iTunes whether on my Mac or pc. Copy trans is free, and again there are many others out there.. These are just two suggestions I knows work
