Seventy and Terence

thanks for your reply, it is the first time that I have been confronted with this request to verify. I was familiar with this in the Bill Gates world but not yet in the apple environment.

I never had any contact with the designer and wondering how he gets my information. The email he sends looks pretty much like it comes from apple. Only the URL gave me a clue that this was a fraud.

This is the 2nd time I have seen someone report what I believe is legit business website being hacked & hijacked by the scammers. URL points DEEP into the info architecture where the "Sofa Company" will never notice it. It is one step further than the legacy tactic for scams - two examples from our home are:

  1. Gypsy 'home improvement' scammers go into a Home Depot and steal a bunch of Behr 'outdoor' product brochures - it's got "Home Depot" stamped on them - they were about to accept $600 check from my Mom & Dad to clean the 'outside' of their gutters with one product - was really bleach & water in a bug sprayer
  2. My son (25 y/o) got a snail mail with a check inside that needed to verified before it would 'clear' according to the poor English text.
    1. the "Company" printed on the check was a legitimate 'sole-proprietorship' of a noted Sports Videographer / Designer
    2. the 'Bank' printed on the check existed as well - the signage on GoogleMaps StreetView showed signage in Arabic - may well have been in on it
    3. the poor English in the cover letter even said "click on the email" in it!! (must have simply copied from an email version of the scam)

I guess the lesson is, there is no new con in the world - only variations and means & media.

Howdy CCC,

Twice in a couple of days. Mustn't go back to the chat; got into trouble last time, I believe 😁 Just hurry up and get those missing 5460 points ... then we can chat. And yes, they are getting more devious by the minute. It was because I didn't recognise the sofa company I went back and re-checked the attachment. iTunes; selling sofas?

Not in a couple of days but still within short-term memory.

Why not? There's an App for everything!!! I even saw one "Interior Design" pitch to Shark Tank... the "call to action" after its use was to order your furniture through them. Here's one for furniture - straight up:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/joss-main-furniture-home-decor/id525522332?mt=8

A couple of "Interior Design" apps that could be front ends to sales very easily (if they aren't already):

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/houzz-interior-design-ideas/id399563465?mt=8

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/homestyler-interior-design/id601137449?mt=8 < by the venerable "AutoDesk", no less
