Q: Prevent Screen Lock During Calls

Since IOS 3, I've been asking Apple to add the option to prevent screen locking during phone calls. This is great for those of us who attend conference calls where you stay on mute until you need to speak to prevent background noise from being unnecessarily heard both other attendees. It's also a great feature for long phone calls where you'll say goodbye and try to disconnect the call but you cannot since the screen is locked.

I've requested this feature 28 times and so far nothing. Here is my 28th submission that I sent to Apple a few minutes ago . I suggested you follow suite if you want this feature.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------

I participate in a number of lengthy conference calls where I stay muted except when I need to speak. Usually I'll plug my iPhone headphones with mic in the phone and continue working on other things while listening to the others speak. When I need to say something, I need to be able to quickly unmute my phone in a timely fashion to do so. 100% of the time, I find that my phone has locked, and I have to waste time fidgeting around with the pass id, finding the phone app, getting it to the correct screen that has the mute button, and finally unmuting the  phone.

If the phone could have a "prevent screen lock during calls" setting, it would remove this extra hassle and promote the use of the phone for business. As it stands, the only work around I know of is to manually tap the screen every few seconds.

This issue is fixed in iOS 10.  When the screen is blank, wake it up either by pressing the home or power button.  On the locked screen you'll see the name of the caller and the call duration.  If you tap on the name, it'll bring you straight to the phone controls with requiring a pwd (and you can unmute from there).

Why do you think screen can get lock when you are on active call? ideally screen display can be off but screen should not be locked.

i know if i touch the name or timer it will take me to call controls but issue is screen should not be locked when i am on call.

I believe the screen goes blank to save battery or because it goes close to your face and it is to prevent accidental pressing of buttons. Whether or not it locks immediately or not depends on your security settings.  most people can controls this in Settings / Touch ID & Passcode.  For some people who have a "profile" installed by their company (because they use the phone for wor)k, the phone locking is determined by the company as a security measure. If  phone is stolen while it is being used (snatched from your hand?) then the thief does not have access.

I just upgraded to iOS 10, and indeed, it is fixed!  Fantastic!
