Q: Edit-Trash vs Archive

I know I've encountered this problem before but for the life of me i don't recall what I did to correct it so...Help!

In Mail on my iPhone when i choose to Edit a piece I'm usually presented with a Trash command/choice and then when I pick that the mail in question goes bye-bye. Now when I choose an item to Trash the command changes to Archive which isn't what I want at all. I can't find anything that would immediately suggest a solution so, obviously, I missing something.

iPhone 5, iOS 8.1.3

    Greetings curly1,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that you are seeing an option to archive email on your iPhone and not trash. This is a setting that is available in some different email accounts. The attached article explains how to adjust this setting for a Gmail account, but the instructions will be the same if your account other than Gmail.

It's sorta strange because the day after I wrote and asked for help with this problem it corrected itself. I've no idea how or why, but it's ok now. Although I would love to know the reason behind it (and I will read the article you attached) I'm satisfied that things are back to normal now.

    Thanks
