Q: iPhoto not launching-Yosemite 10.10.3

I recently bought a new iMac (27-Inch, Late 2013 model) and noticed that I can't launch iPhoto anymore without me needing to update it first.

When I try to update iPhoto I get the message:"Not available in this store". I can't switch store (Dutch store) either because of my Credit Card address.

I read on the apple forum to delete iPhoto and reinstall it via the app store. I did delete it via the trash bin, only to find out that there's no iPhoto software in the Dutch store.

Any idea how to reinstall iPhoto?

Thank you in advance.

If you are on 10.10.3 then you may want to consider using Photos, which was introduced with 10.10.3. You will see an icon in  your Dock that looks like:

If you have any trouble with Photos there is new forum for it located at .

However if you insist on use iPhotos, navigate to iPhoto in the Applications - iPhoto. If for some reason it will not launch then rebuild the iPhoto library, instructions are in Rebuilding the iPhoto library

Thank you for your reply and help!

To be perfectly honest with you I never use iPhoto but I noticed that with my new iMac (27 inch- late 2013) my SITECOM card reader doesn't work anymore. I saw on a forum that I can use iPhoto instead to load my CR2 files off my SD-cards.

    Any suggestions?

Use Image Capture (in the Applications Folder). It's more simple

    Or

Pop the cards into a card reader and use the Finder.

Not even Image Capture is of any help here. My new iMac simple doesn't see my card reader. If I plug it back into my old iMac with OS Yosemite 10.10.3 the card reader is read without any problems.

Anyway, it's time I buy a new card reader I guess.

    Thank you anyway.

If the card reader is plugged into a USB hub or USB keyboard, then plug it directly into the back of the Mac and retest. If it still won't work retest with another card in the reader and if that doesn't work then plug the card directly into the back of the SD reader in the back of the computer until you replace the card reader.

You should have a SD slot in the side of your iMac.  Check to see which side it's on.  On some it's just below the CD slot so don't make the mistake that some have and jam it in there.  It's a pain to get out.

I plugged the reader directly into the back of my iMac but to no avail...

At least the light on the reader is on and that tells me that something is working.
