I cannot find a matrix that shows all cross-product charging cord compatibility. It would save a lot of questions and show that Apple still takes the extra step for customer care. This is something we shouldn't have to ask the community! They could especially address where caution is needed to protect the hardware.

Don't understand why there is confusion. All Apple Lightning cables are compatible with all devices with a Lightning port. All Apple 30 pin connector cables are compatible with all devices with a 30 pin dock connector.
If you're referring to 3rd party cables, if it doesn't come with a "Made for iPhone" or "Made for iPad" logo on the packaging, then don't trust it.
Basically, if it fits. it is compatible -- i.e., Apple hardware only. Right? And if the Apple Jack is not compatible, it will not damage the iProduct, right? Otherwise, I think I got it. Now I have enough to be dangerous.
