Can't disconnect Classic iPod

I have a Classic iPod, 120 GB. When I try to eject it I get a window telling me that I can't disconnect because its file are being used by another application. What application?? Can I override it? Closing iTunes doesn't help. Thanks in advance for anyone's help.

i don't have so much experience on OS X but I know that occasionally on Windows it is possible for file locking handles not to get released properly. If this happens again you could try logging off, or closing down the whole machine. If it happens repeatedly then I'd start wondering what background processes you have running? Have you installed anti-virus or "clean-up" software for example?
