I got iCloud Photo turned off on my mac, and i just wanted to import my photos from my iPhone and then delete them from that device.

I got all my apps and iOS up to date.

There is a box to check before you import them, but not after.

Either open Image Capture and delete them from that application, or open Photos on the iPhone and delete them from there. If you choose select, then select all photos at once and delete them.

Seems like we are doomed, without warning, to use our fingers to individually mark each single picture/event on your iPhone and beg the device to delete them. The polite window from iPhoto is gone.

The question is , if iCloud photo library is enabled on your iPhone, not if you are using it on your Mac.

If iCloud Photo Library is enabled on your iPhone, you cannot use the Mac to erase the photo after importing them, because the photos are stored in iCloud and only mirrored on your iPhone.  Disable iCloud Photo Library on the iPhone, if you want your Mac to be able to erase the photos on import.

That is exactly my problem: having to delete 3000 pics individually... This is something that always bother me about apple, whenever they update or make radical changes in some apps, they took away a lot of its features and we have to wait like 2 or 3 updates to finally have them back

having to delete 3000 pics individually...

You can at least delete a complete moment at once.

Select the "photos" tab in Photos. Open the Moments view., then click "Select" at the top of the window

Now click "select" to the right of the title of a moment. All photos in the moment will be selected and you can trash them all at once by pressing the Trash button.

I went to import some photos I took this week from my phone to my Mac, and noticed that the "delete photos after import" option was not there.  Anyone know where this went or if it's something that I can turn on/off from the menu.  I vaguely remember there being a Photos App update a couple of months ago.  I'm wondering if they changed something in that update.

I apologize.  I am NOT using iCloud for my photos.  I am pulling photos from my iPhone 6S onto my 2012 Macbook Pro Retina running Photos V1.5.  My iPhone is updated to iOS 9.3.1.  I am connected between between my Mac and iPhone via the Lightning cable.  This is what I've ALWAYS done and did absolutely nothing different, so the only thing I can think of is they changed something on the last update.  But I will say that it's been a few weeks since I've imported photos from my iPhone to my Mac.

I will also note that after the THIRD time of restarting Photos, now the option is back.
