Q: can't find most recently uploaded photos

I recently got a new iMac and had to try and switch over to photos from iPhoto. I upload photos, edit them and then I can't find them ANYWHERE when I need to upload them online. I tried making a new folder for them, but then that folder can't be found either. I try making a new file of the image in photoshop, but I can't find the image to open it.

I'm not sure at what point they finally becomes available (a day or two later?), but closing and reopening photos doesn't help, and it doesn't even show up in "last download" when I try to find them (though they do show up in photos).

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Look at the bottom or near the bottom of the All Photos window.  If the photos were the last to be imported they will still be in the Last Import smart album in the sidebar.

Moments in Photos are the new Events, i.e. groupings of photos sorted by date taken.

When the iPhoto Library was first migrated to Photos there is a folder created in the sidebar titled iPhoto Events and all migrated iPhoto Events (which are now Moments) are represented by an album in that folder. To open the sidebar if it's not already open use the Option+Command+S key combination.

There's a way to simulate events in Photos.

When new photos are imported into the Photos library go to the Last Import smart album, select all the photos and use the File New Album menu option or use the key combination Command+N.  Name it as desired.  It will appear just above the iPhoto Events folder where you can drag it into the iPhoto Events folder

When you click on the iPhoto Events folder you'll get a simulated iPhoto Events window.

The downside to the simulation is that the Albums/Events can only be sorted automatically by Title. But they can also be sorted manually, either in the sidebar or in the folder's window at the right.

Ask Apple for more sorting options in Photos via https://www.apple.com/feedback/photos.html.

What exactly do you mean by "upload photos"? From what to what, & what do you use to edit them? Which, if any iCloud services are you using?

Thanks for your help! Still can't figure it out.

When I look in moments, it shows a long list of the last 4 years ending in "yesterday", which actually consists of images taken last week.

When I click on "last import", it's blank.

I said folder before, but I meant to say I made a new album, but it doesn't show up in a sidebar or with a search. Again, this is when I try to select an image in photoshop or online - the images show up when I go over to Photos, under last import as well as the new album I made.

I'm uploading images from my camera to photos, I then edit them in photos, and then I attempt to upload them to various websites. I also tried opening the files in photoshop (thinking that I could them rename and store in documents), but can't locate them there either.

I'm not really using iCloud, as least not on purpose - this is all being done on one iMac.

We can not see you so you have to provide accurate details

are you not finding them in the Photos application? Is so where are  you looking? Photos? All Photos? Last Import?  --  they should be in all three

Or are you looking for them in the media browser? If so then it may take a while to update - give it time or reboot to force it - and tell Apple - https://www.apple.com/feedback/photos.html

Or somewhere else that I have not guessed

I'm sorry if I'm not stating this accurately...

they DO show up when I open photos.

They DO NOT show up when I try to select a file to upload online (or in photoshop), and this is when I search photos > and then all photos, last import, etc.

This was never an issue with iPhoto, just having it now in Photos. They show up eventually, but it seems to take days.

It seems like I should be able to upload photos from my camera and then work with them right away, without rebooting. It was never a problem on iPhoto on my macbook.

then the answer as I posted is

Or are you looking for them in the media browser? If so then it may take a while to update - give it time or reboot to force it - and tell Apple - https://www.apple.com/feedback/photos.html

    Again,

I've quit and reopened Photos and the problem persists.

It seems like I should be able to upload photos from my camera and then work with them right away, without rebooting. It was never a problem on iPhoto on my macbook.

All of what you said... neither can I! The only workround I can find is to drag the picture out of Photos to the desktop and open it from there. Lousy, fiddly and inelegant but it works.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" comes to mind.
