I can't get synced photos off of my iphone no matter what I try

My iphone 5s has a few thousand pictures on it that I do not want there and that were not taken from the iphone. I want to delete all of the "events" and just keep my camera roll photos on my phone.

I have tried everything. I can't delete the events from my iphone directly, and after a google search it seems like I had to unsyc the photos through itunes.

The problem is that they still won't go away. In itunes when I click on my iphone and go to the photos tab, I have unchecked the "sync photo

See the procedures below. I copied these from Sync photos to your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch in iTunes - Apple Support

If using Steps 1 through 4 doesn't work then try the method in the link in the last line.

Delete synced photos

In iTunes, locate and click on your device.

Click Photos.

Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
To delete all synced photos, deselect "Sync Photos from" and, when asked, click "Remove photos."

Click Apply.

This became a problem when I upgraded my macbook pro to yosemite and the iphoto app was replaced with the "Photos" app. Previously when I had synced these pictures, it was from iphoto, but now that it is no longer supported it seems that there is no way to delete them.

Sorry about that, I didn't see that link originally! It finally worked, you are a godsend. Just wondering, is there a way to now remove the single photo that I have synced? Thank you so much.

If not, do that again.

Create a folder on the computer that you now sync with, and add a single photo to that folder.

In the Photos tab in iTunes, click the box next to "Sync Photos From."

In the pop-up menu next to "Sync Photos From," choose the folder you created in step 1.

Apply the change.

Uncheck "Sync Photos From."

Apply the change again.

Your synced photos will now be removed from the device.
