Q: iCloud photo library stuck updating

I know there are couple threads around this topic but in summary it still does not work.  So here is the question again - iCloud photo library is stuck updating on the mac as well as the iPhone.  The iCloud website shows it is working on something but nothing is happening.

Abbreviation used:

iCPL: iCloud Photo Library

iPhone 6 iOS 8.3 + Yosemite

~400 pictures on MBP

~11 pictures on iPhone

Everything I tried below:

1. Shut down iCPL.  Rebuild photo library on MBP.  Restarted iCPL.

2. Shut down ICPL on both MBP and iPhone.  Restarted MBP. Started iCPL just on Mac.

3. Shut down iCPL on both MBP and iPhone.  Shutdown MBP.  Started iCPL just on iPhone.

4. Shut down iCPL on both MBP and iPhone.  Logged off iCloud on both the devices.  Logged back on the MBP after restart.  Logged into iCloud on both devices. Started iCPL just on the MBP.

5. Shut down iCPL on both MBP and iPhone.  Logged off iCloud on both the devices.  Logged back on the MBP after restart.  Logged into iCloud on both devices.Started iCPL just on the iPhone.

I have rebuild the iCloud meta data file several times. I have killed background processes where I could find any.

All the trials above I have left the MBP running overnight with Photo app running.

I want to know if this is covered under the Apple support policy.  I'm so tempted to take my devices to Apple store and let them figure out.

MBP, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

usually the answer is patience as the upload can be slow - every time you did the stpes you took yo restarted it

try turing ILPC on on all devices and and giving it time to complete - you can see the progress in the Photos preferences ==> Photos and by logging onto iCloud.com

Odds are that left alone for an adequate time it will complete and then everything will be fine

There is a difference between "uploading" where you see the photos countdown and see a size message or this "updating" which seems to do nothing. I have iStats installed which shows me the internet traffic and when Photos is stuck on updating nothing happens so it must be an internal process.

I have the same issue, have set the phone to never auto-lock and plugged it in, and connected to WiFi obviously, with the Photos app open in hopes that it would jumpstart the process as sitting with the iCloud Photos option open yielded the same results... sat for 2 hours and no photos uploaded; iCPL keeps refreshing as if it's doing something, but no new photos ever show. I have turned iCPL off on the iPhone three or four times, each time nothing updates on iCloud.com. When looking at the iCloud Photo settings, still shows 513 photos requiring upload. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem. I uninstalled iCloud on PC. I disconnected iCloud from all iOS devices except iPhone 6s. I turned off iCLoud Photo library on iPhone 6s. icloud.com shows 53 photos and videos updating... This has been like this for more than a week, probably even longer. If I attempt to delete a photo on icloud.com it says:

    Unable to delete item.

An item could not be deleted due to a server error.

    Any suggestions?
