I am unable to hear callers. turning the volume up does not help. restarting and resetting the phone does not help. any suggestions?

Q: call volume too low
If you can't hear a person on a call or voicemail or if the sound quality is poor on iPhone - Apple Support
Please note that increase volume level for calls, you have to do it while you're on the call. Adjusting it before or after the call, has no effect.
