I have a macbook 5.1 and I am trying to upgrade firmware to 1.4 so I can install 8GB Ram (2x4GB) but it won't install because I have Yosemite, please help!!!

I have a macbook 5.1 and I am trying to upgrade firmware to 1.4 so I can install 8GB Ram (2x4GB) but it won't install because I have Yosemite, please help!!!

Everytime I try to install the update it says I do not need it, but my Boot ROM is version MB51.007D.B03 so I know it needs upgrading. Please help!!!

MacBook (13-inch Aluminum Late 2008), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Firmware Update 1.4 updates MacBook5,1 to version MB51.007D.003, which is already what you have. Hence, no update is needed.

My Late 2008 MacBook(8GB RAM) boot ROM Ver. is MB51.007D.B03, so you don't need upgrade boot ROM.

Yeah I realized that after I posted it. I thought I didn't have the correct version because when I put the new ram in, it didn't work. Well that's because I was given ddr3 12800 sodimm and that's not compatible like the guy said it was. So I will return it and I ordered the right one online. Thanks
