Q: iMac 21.5 as external screen for my Lenovo x220 via Display Port

I just purchased a brand new 21.5 iMac (ultimo 2013), and desperately try to utilize it as an external screen for my work PC Lenovo x220 via the Lenovo's display port to the iMac's Thunderbolt port.

I have also tried using air display, this works, but just not seamlessly, and the stability is not satisfying at all.

I really hope for a resolution to this, otherwise I'm at the state where I will return the iMac.

If you wanted a display you should have just bought a display, you would have saved a lot of money. Your Lenovo doesn't output a compliant signal for the iMac to work in Target Display Mode Target Display Mode: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Apple Support
Return the Lenovo and buy a Mac laptop.
