By coincidence I saw on Apple Support page Apple - Support - Downloads that there is a HP 3.1 update available.
I did not see this update through OS X Software Update in App Store app even with printer powered on. Anybody els with same experience ?

I have macbookair 13 inch wit sierra OS and i have printer of HP Laserjet P1102 w but its been very difficult for me to set up that printer as my default printer even though this printer is been connected to all other devices in the network but my mac doesnt add this printers to my printers list,
Is there any other way i can try? Please help me with this
If you haven't done so already, try resetting the printing system.
Yesterday the app store icon in my dock had a little red number one, indicating an available update. (printer was off and not connected) It was the HP Printer 3.1 update. I installed it. This morning it was there again. The 3.1 update was listed in "Updates installed in the last 30 days" and listed as an available update. Installed it again. Now it's listed twice in the recent updates list, and is still listed as an available update. Don't know why the update didn't show up for you, but there does seem to be something odd going on with it...
I’m in exactly the same situation Mr.Courtney and have been reading and trying lots of ways to try and remove the ‘badge’ from my App Store icon in the dock. Nothing’s worked so far. My printer also seems to be working perfectly well.
to all:
Open Finder,
in the menu click GO,
then choose GO TO FOLDER
type /var/folders/ and click GO
Now you will see a folder called "zz"
move it to the trash.
Restart the mac and open Appstore, update Tab.
It will search for updates, takes longer this time, while it rebuilds the zz folder.

The zz folder was corrupted.

I do not know but it happens sometimes, especially in the last month.
could we keep up to my question why the update is not shown in App Store 🙂

I remember last 3.0 HP update suite was correctly displayed in Apple Store.
Well never mind I install them manually but I hope nott all apps which are included in the HP branded divers package (Scanner apps) are installed 🙂
I looked at the Swiss Apple site and looked for HP printer drivers:
It says actual: printer drivers HP version 3.0
