Jun 20, 2015 8:39 AM in response to WoodyJohnby lllaass,★HelpfulNeither the memory or disk are soldered in place in the 2012 Mac Min.
I have added an SSD to my 2012 Mini with no problem.
The Mini that came with a fusion drive still has the ability replace one or both drives.

Jun 20, 2015 8:54 AM in response to lllaassby WoodyJohn,Thank you! I appreciate your taking the time to reply. I did know about the ram not being soldered (I upgraded that already), and I know that the hdd can be upgraded, and a 2nd drive added, but have you actually seen a 2012 mini that came factory equipped w/ a fusion drive that had the ssd portion upgraded? The only reason I'm asking is an authorized Apple repair shop is insisting that the ssd is soldered in. It looks like a pretty involved upgrade and I want to be absolutely sure before starting. Thanks again, Illaass!

Jun 20, 2015 9:17 AM in response to WoodyJohnby lllaass,This tends to say the SSD in s blade SSD like those installed in MacBook Airs and Pros
https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/107296/Fusion+Drive-+What+is+it
However. other articles/forums tends to indicate it is a standed SATA SSD.
If you go to System Report, what does that say about the SSD? Psting a screenshot would be nice.

Jun 20, 2015 9:42 AM in response to WoodyJohnby lllaass,★HelpfulBased on the number of the SSD liked it appears to be a blade SSD for 2012 and some later MacBook Pros with Retina display
http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/apple-notebooks/289050-128gb-apple-ssd-actually -121gb.html
Here are blade SSDs for the retina MacBook Pro.
You can call Macsales/OWC and ask them to confirm it is the same
