upgrade ssd portion of fusion drive

I have a late 2012 Mac Mini with 1.1 TB Fusion drive. I would like to upgrade the ssd portion of the fusion drive, but I am getting conflicting information. I know that if it only had an hdd I can add an ssd and create a fusion drive. A web search seems to indicate that is possible. However, I was told by a local authorized Apple repair shop that on a late 2012 mini w/ fusion drive, the ssd is soldered to the main board and cannot be upgraded. Has anyone actually replaced the ssd on a 2012 mini w/ fusion drive? I'm reluctant to tear into it if it is not even possible to do the swap. If not possible, I will probably split the fusion drive into 2 drives. Thanks!

Neither the memory or disk are soldered in place in the 2012 Mac Min.

I have added an SSD to my 2012 Mini with no problem.

The Mini that came with a fusion drive still has the ability replace one or both drives.

Thank you! I appreciate your taking the time to reply. I did know about the ram not being soldered (I upgraded that already), and I know that the hdd can be upgraded, and a 2nd drive added, but have you actually seen a 2012 mini that came factory equipped w/ a fusion drive that had the ssd portion upgraded? The only reason I'm asking is an authorized Apple repair shop is insisting that the ssd is soldered in. It looks like a pretty involved upgrade and I want to be absolutely sure before starting. Thanks again, Illaass!

This tends to say the SSD in s blade SSD like those installed in MacBook Airs and Pros

However. other articles/forums tends to indicate it is a standed SATA SSD.

If you go to System Report, what does that say about the SSD? Psting a screenshot would be nice.

Based on the number of the SSD liked it appears to be a blade SSD for 2012 and some later MacBook Pros with Retina display

Here are blade SSDs for the retina MacBook Pro.

You can call Macsales/OWC and ask them to confirm it is the same
