Mac mini pointer won't move

Thank you for your help. I backedup the system before going to Apple for some other issues, when I restarted the computer at home the pointer wouldn't move. I been using USB Targus mouse for a long time. I tried this mouse on my MacBook Air and it worked. So I tried an Apple Wireless mouse with recharged batteries but it doesn't work either. It says: attempting to connect with mouse #1 but no wireless mouse has been found. I just don't know anything else to try.
