Q: lessons keep downloading

Every time I launch GB the lessons need to be downloaded. I've watched them completely download several times now but for some reason they disappear after I shut down the program and need to be re-installed next time I open it. In addition I get  this message "GarageBand was not able to install the new sounds. Close and re-open GarageBand to download and install them again." when I try to update the sounds. I would list what version of Graraband i have but the "about Garage band" option is greyed out. Does anyone know how to fix this? I have garage band 10.0.3 on a mac running os 10.10.3.

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

    Hey there Coloradogordo,

As I understand it you have comfirmed many times that your Garageband application has finished downloading the Lessons and such but everytime you open it, you are continually prompted to download them again. I was thinking that you may need to re index the loops to update the database of the program which can also affect lessons:

GarageBand Help: Create your own Apple Loops

Reindex the Apple Loops user library

    • Click Loops at the top of the Loop Browser, then choose Reindex All Loops from the pop-up menu.

If that does not stop the prompts from appearing then you may need to reinstall the application itself.

OS X Yosemite: Install, update, and uninstall apps

Apps downloaded from the Mac App Store: Click the Launchpad icon in the Dock, hold down an app’s icon until all the icons begin to jiggle, then click an app’s delete button . If you later want the app, you can reinstall it from the Mac App Store.

Then reinstall it from the Purchased section of the Mac App Store. Note that you may have to install the loops one more time after this process:

Mac App Store: Finding your purchased apps

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

    All the best,

    Sterling

Thanks. I ended up reinstalling the program and that seemed to resolve that issues plus some issues I had with slow performance.

    Thanks!
