I had RAM installed and now the display is considerably dimmer with a brownish cast. Is this related to the power source where I had the RAM installed, or is there just a coincidental problem with backlighting?

More than likely a coincidence.
I will see how it is when I have reconnected it at home. I had it in to We Fix Macs to install more RAM and reinstall Mountain Lion. Nothing was done that would have interfered with the screen display. However, when I went to pick up my iMac, the guy had it connected and I noticed how dim/brownish it was. He said, yes, he noticed it as soon as he turned it on. He connected it and turn it on when I brought it in the week before, and tI could see that the screen was NOT discolored.
I guess it could just be coincidental. I will adjust the screen settings and see what happens.

The display screen does have light brownish horizontal stripes but they are fainter than when in the repair shop and the colors on the screen once the iMac launches seem to be normal. Guess I will wait for awhile before worrying more.
