Q: Very less battery life then expected

Hi,

I bought Mac Book air 3 months ago. Everything was working fine, but recently I am seeing huge drop in battery life. Generally I get 8-10 hours of bettery life but now its giving very less battery life. See the screenshot attached below.

What should I do in order to increase the battery life again. I used apps of Dr. Cleaner, Clean My App 3, but I don't see any improvement in battery life.

MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Also one more thing. in activity monitor "com.hp.devicemodel.TransportProxy" is consuming high cpu power due to which I guess this is happening. I tried to force quit but its not happening .

Exact same problem here, only difference is that I have a MacBook Pro and also the fans are running very loud the whole time, which is quite annoying.

Have you found a way to quit the process or have you found another solution?

Got a solution. I switched off my device and started again. Then I went to guest mode and then shut down my device and started again. I got an option to install Yosemite again. So I did that. It took around 90 minutes. But then afterwards everything back to normal. Now I am getting 10+ hrs battery life.

    So problem is solved.

Things like that can hurt battery runtime ("life" is how many years before the battery becomes useless and requires replacing) especially if, like CMM, they run in the background. Switchers from Windows seem brow-beaten into believing that you must install steaming piles of third-party utilities in order for any computer to work. Your Mac can take good care of itself without that dreck as long as you watch where you surf.

"Cleaning apps" are a leading cause of poor Mac performance. They do nothing that the Mac OS does for itself automatically. They are very close to scamware.

If the problem comes back, see this Apple article on things that affect battery runtime:

So the solution is to install Yosemite again? That is not a solution. I what to stop de file : com.hp.devicemodel.TransportProxy but it keep coming back and speeding the processors to 100%. and my mac is really hot now! i'm worried.

    Ask HP, it's their file.

The problem is an update that hp released. The fix is going to the printers you have installed and delete the hp printer that instantly fixes the problem

I have the same problem, and i tried to delete the HP server. Did it by dragging it to the trashcan though and emptying it afterwards, i do not know if that was the way to do it properly, but the problem is still there, it is using 363.8% of CPU, cannot be shut down, and the fans are making noise like crazy. There is another program too, Inkjet 4, from the same user, that cannot be shut down either.

OK i have found a solution. To anyone struggling with the same problem as me: You also have to find the HP printer by clicking on the apple icon in the top left corner, click on System preferences and then find the icon Printers and Fax, then click on the HP printer icon and click -

Then the program that you could not delete and the noise from the fans are gone
