During Some calls on my Iphone 6 the screen goes black and all the buttons stop working. The call continues fine but the phone controls are all dead. Even pressing and hold the off button has no effect. It all comes back after the call. This even happens when Im trying to leave a voicemail. You cant end the call so it goes to voicemail and you cant leave a message. Thoughts?

I understand that your screen does not respond when making a phone call. It sound like something may be obstructing the proximity sensor.
