usb not recognized after 2 years off

Hi, I am new to apple product, and i have an iPod Shuffle, not sure if it's 4th/5th gen. And i haven't turn it on for these past 2 years because i lost the power cable. But now i got the replacement and i try to charge it again,and check the songs inside it. But it said USB Device not recognized, and the iPod is not detected on iTunes either. How do i fix this? I tried several solution from the internet but none of them are working. Please help. bThanks
