See if the above helps. I'm assuming that by saying iMessage you are referring to an iDevice, because the application in OS X is called Messages. I'm not sure to which you refer. If all is working OK, it may take some time before data syncs from other devices.
The MacBook is very new, so if this is a real bug, then no information may be out yet about it.

Jun 22, 2015 1:44 PM in response to Kappyby Compass2100,Thanks for the effort to assist. I may have not used several terms correctly.
My problem is that when I check my text messages on my new MacBook, I can only see the ones sent since setting up iCloud on that computer AND only replies to messages I send. I am still receiving several text messages (and can see the entire history of saved text messages) on both my iPhone and my MacBook Pro.
Any thought?

Jun 22, 2015 2:02 PM in response to Compass2100by Kappy,Unless iCloud syncs your messages from your iPhone, I would guess it's because the newly setup account on the MBP has no way to incorporate the older information. I am not into text messaging so I don't use Messages or iMessage. However, if you have iCloud enabled on all your devices and computers and they are all turned on, then give it some time to see if the information finally appears.
Wish I could be more helpful.

ApplicationsHi,
There is nothing in System Preferences > iCloud that refers to Messages in any way.
It just happens that Messages uses an Apple ID to become the iMessages ID and most people use their iCloud ID.
You cannot get older iMessages when you add a new device to the link/sync process.
In practice the iMessages servers duplicate an iMessages only when there is an linked device.
So if you link an iPhone and Mac there will be two iMessages for a time.
They are then sent in fact pushed to the devices until the devices respond.
Then the iMessages are deleted. Apple does not keep them.
ANY NEW DEVICES WILL ONLY GET NEW MESSAGES FROM THE TIME IT WAS ALSO LINKED.
Older chats can be Migrated across from an older Mac.
