Q: Airdrop between iPhone and iMac

My iPhone 6 will not connect via Bluetooth to my iMac with OS X Yosemite 10.10.3

When I try to pair the devices I get a code that my phone recognizes but when I press pair on the phone the computer somehow loses connection and they don't pair. The phone is right next to the computer, but they don't seem to talk to each other, please help?
