Why does Apple make inserting photos into email so cumbersome?

Why does Apple make the insertion/attachment of a number of photos into Mac email so cumbersome?

Microsoft Outlook is made so much easier

Its so head scratching that Apple exists in such a vacuum that exceedingly basic features that have been available in Outlook for over a decade are still not available for mail.

Remember Apple, Microsoft was also once the biggest publicly listed company & look how far they have fallen. No one's immune

If you need help, then please ask a non-rhetorical question. This is a user to user support forum. Apple is not here. I, personally, have never had any issues with inserting photos into emails, so you need to provide us with specific information about what your issue is. If you do that, we may be able to help.

You can't insert photos into an email simply by clicking the paper clip icon & then selecting which photos you want

You can if you do it from the Photos app....

And you are correct - trying to find a photo by clicking on the paperclip makes it next to impossible to find the photo you want.

However, if you click on the little double box, it will bring up your photo libraries:

This is the little box that will come up on the left-side of the email window when you select that:

And just to clarify, if you open the Photos app (not iPhoto), you can select a photo (or photos) from there, and then click on the "Share" icon in Photos, and it will open a regular email window with the photo embedded.

So, you can do it directly from the Mail App or from the Photos App.

Thanks - that double box is the answer

Strange that it can't be done with the paper clip icon - since it is attaching something, logic says it should allow it

Well, I'm thinking it is because they are two entirely different actions. The paperclip takes you to the Finder, the double-box links to all of your various Photo libraries and displays the contents. Trying to get to photos via the Finder is your basic nightmare and not really the way you would want to go....

Drag and Drop an image file onto the mail messages I writing works for me.

Copy and Paste part of an image from some image viewer/editor (Preview, iPhoto, Photo, etc...) into a mail message also works (Screen shots such as Command-Control-Shift-4 too).
