iPhone 4s, iOS 8.3, podcast document and data

My iphone is nearly full and the bulk of the memory is in the podcast app. Under usage, I have the following

- 1 podcast downloaded using 53.7 MB.

- Podcast document & data using 1.8 GB.

Steps I've taken.

- Unsubscribed to all podcasts and deleted all podcasts from my phone.

- Deleted all episodes from my stations.

- Attempted to delete and restore app(this is not allowed. It is a permanent app).

Following up months later, if you're still paying attention: what eventually happened with this? After a few days or weeks of not using the Podcasts app, did the Document & Data still take up 1.8GB, or did it eventually disappear?

I wish I had a solution. Erasing and restoring the device seems to lessen the Document & Data storage consumption, but then it creeps up again.
