Q: where to download imovie for mac 10.9.5

i recently just received this Macbook from a friend and realized there is no iMovie installed.

To my understanding, this mac should have an older version of iMovie preinstalled but when i try to look for the application it does not exist.

Perhaps I am under the wrong impression?

If not, could anyone please help me find a solution to my problem?

Thank you,

Efinef.

Download the newest version to a Mac running a compatible OS(you can install Yosemite on a partition or external drive if needed), click here, and try following the instructions. Alternatively, if the computer shipped with Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier(not including Mac OS X Server) or you have an iLife DVD, you can install it from a disk.
