Unable to Print after HP 3.1 update

Macbook Air (13" mid-2013)

OS X Yosemite 10.10.3

Airport Time Capsule version 7.7.3 (new mini-tower)

Printer HP Laserjet 400 MFP M425dw

Since the HP printer software update 3.1 was installed (June 21, 2015) I have been unable to print. It says the printer is not connected.

I deleted the printer but was unable to re-add the printer. It shows the printer in the Add window but is unable to communicate with the printer.

I reset the printing system - no change.

I can get the printer to install if I select "Use: HP Laserjet 400 MFP M425dw" however I am still unable to print due to the same not connected error.

I have power cycled/reset everything.

How is the HP actually connected to the network?

What IP does it have?

Can you ping it?? If not then you definitely cannot print to it.

I Was not able to log in to the IP address through safari (like i used to do)

and then ...

about 2-3 days after i posted the question the print just started printing some things, one of which i had been attempting to print when it stopped.

I Went to the computer to see if I could print from it... Ta-da! It works again! Just like magic!

no satisfaction of solving the problem. Just devices that work again. I'm good with that.
