I cannot open or quit from mail and as a result I cannot restart my computer. Just before this happened I was checking my mail and tried to delete one and was told that it could not be moved to the trash. Any ideas?

1. Back up all data. Rebuild the mailbox. Try again to delete the message.

I was actually able to force quit from the drop down menu up at the top. It was not coming up as an option in the pop-up menu when I clicked and held on the mail icon in the dock. Thanks for you suggestions.
