Icloud.com as Apple ID

Can I use my icloud.com email address as my Apple ID? This would be handy as I wish to migrate away from other services and consolidate everything into icloud. This is the one thing hindering me from doing so.

iPhone 6, iOS 8.3

Yes, you can. Understand that once you change the Apple ID all your purchases and downloads from the iTunes and App Store will not longer be updatable or be re-downloaded because they are all tied to the Apple ID used at time of purchase.
