Let me declare my bias GOSH I HATE THIS PHOTOS PROGRAM
For a start how does one google questions when the program does not have a unique name!!
How does one get the exported slide show to play in a continuous loop - there does not seem a button for this

Why in the world are you using it then - I certainly would never us a program I hated - you have free choice - exercise it and use a program you love

but I want to put the slides into keynote and this only shows how to make a slide show to show off your travel photos, I am using keynote for work slide shows and cannot figure out how to get a bunch of pictures into a keynote presentation - I used to just drag them into keynote but it does not work that way now

Yes I agree and its probably my inexperience at using " PHOTOS " it but when I upgraded my operating system - my iPhoto stopped working , it says I need to download the program again but I cannot download iPhotos from the australian store as it says it is not available
so there I am with "PHOTOS" and I can't easily see how to go back
And is there a trick to how to google questions about ' PHOTOS' e.g. when i ask -
how to import from Photos into Keynote - it talks about iPhoto to keynote and not ' PHOTOS ' to keynote so I am stuck as google just sees PHOTOS as photos if you get my drift
