Google password "required" auto message from OS X

I've been an Apple user for years and for the first time I am getting an auto message on my computer screen from OS X asking me to enter my Google password.

Why is this? Is this a computer hacker or is this Apple for real? I need to see this in writing. I am not entering my password so that someone can access my computer.

I would appreciate a response!

This is a new feature of the Accounts manager. Unfortunately, it's a bit buggy at the moment and asks you to put the password in every couple of days.

Are you saying that this is an official feature from Apple? Why was this implemented?

1) Yes.

2) I am not a member of the team that implemented it so I'm not privy to those details. I assume they are trying to be helpful and prompt you when they notice your password is missing.
