Q: FaceTime Problem

Why do some contacts have a "FaceTime" icon and others do not.

How do I FaceTime with those that do not?

iPad Mini, iOS 8.1.2

    Hi dumbie,

If you are not seeing a FaceTime icon next to certain contacts, they may not have an iOS device (FaceTime is only available on iOS devices and Mac computers), or they may not have their device set up to use FaceTime, as outlined below:

    Turn on FaceTime

Open your FaceTime app and sign in with your Apple ID (you can also do this from Settings > FaceTime).

If you're using an iPhone, FaceTime automatically registers your phone number. To also register your email address on your iPhone, tap Settings > FaceTime > Use your Apple ID for FaceTime, and sign in.

If you're using an iPad or iPod touch, register your email address by tapping Settings > FaceTime > Use your Apple ID for FaceTime, and sign in.

Use FaceTime with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

    Regards,

    - Brenden

FaceTime is removed from iPhones and iPads sold in many Middle

Eastern countries per governmental decree and cannot be added to

those devices even when the device is no longer in the restricted nation.

Use Skype or similar program or sell the iPhone you have and purchase one

from a country where FaceTime is not prohibited.

What is the model number of your iPhone? Settings>General>About>Model.

You may have to scroll to see the entry for Model.
