Q: Mac mail is not connecting with Gmail

Sporadic connection from Mac mail to Gmail. I've tried deleting the account and setting it up again, different settings suggested in other threads nothing seems to make "mail" work seamlessly as does Gmail when I log in from a browser. Very frustrating - did;t have this issued until I upgraded from to Snow Leopard to Yosemite 10 days ago. Anyone else have this issue?

MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2008), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

    Hey rb3350,

     

    Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

     

    It sounds like the Mail application on your Mac doesn't connect to Gmail consistently. This does sound frustrating, and removing/re-adding the account was a good step.

     

    You mentioned you tried settings mentioned in other threads, and I wanted to be sure you also tried Mail Connection Doctor:

     

    Use Mail Connection Doctor - Apple Support

     

    This can help to identify connection issues with your email accounts in Mail, and has some troubleshooting tips for specific error messages.
