notes list correct, all highlights wrong! - fix?

opened a book almost done with, but haven't read for awhile. sad to see ALL the highlighting is seems random and in the wrong places. however, on the notes list they are correct. but then, tapping on one takes me to the wrong part of the book. i tried re-downloading the book, and same thing occurs (though, oddly, the cover design changed). interestingly, the one previously downloaded on my mac is fine.

has this happened to anyone else? is there any way to fix it? hope so, because i read slow and i do not have the time to re-read an entire book just to re-highlight it. this is a serious catastrophe. help?
