Q: Why can't we have Cellular Data on the MacBook?

We have 3G/4G on both iPhones and iPads, so why can't Apple produce a laptop with 3G/4G compatibility?

MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

You can use that 3G/4G data to power your MacBook Air by using a personal hotspot from your iPhone or iPad. You must have this provisioned for you by your cellular carrier (may cost extra).

I don't mean Personal Hotspot, I mean literally, why can't MacBook's have 3G/4G compatibility?

Why can't Apple produce a MacBook with a SIM Card slot?

We are not allowed to speculate in these forums about why Apple does or does not do things. We are not allowed to speculate what Apple may or may not do in the future.

But I can tell you that if Apple were my company to do things exactly as I wish, I would never consider adding SIM card slots to Macs. Enough folks (including you!) have other devices that can serve as WiFi hotspots. And those that do not can access routers most of the time. Real estate in Macs is precious.
