Q: Cant contact the keyboard

Greetings!

I just installed my new Retina iMac and wanted to reset my 4 year old iMac to sell it.

But......my old iMac does not make contact with the keyboard, does not respons and without a keyboard I cant to anything. Strangely he does make contact with the wireless mouse but not with the keyboard.

I tried several keyboards, with wire and wireless, but he does not respons at all. Tried hundreds of times now.

Does anyone have any idea how I continue with my old Mac now?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

    Silvia,

Try changing the batteries in the keyboard and if that does not work then temporarily use a USB keyboard (wise to keep on hand) to troubleshoot. If you still cannot make the connection please use Apple's Troubleshooting wireless mouse and keyboard issues - Apple Support article.

    Thanks for responding!

I checked all in the list of the link you did send here, but nothing helps if I cant write or do something on my Mac. I can only start him up and than it stops because I cant even write my password.

I checked keyboards: they work as they should.

But I stil can only start up my old Mac and cant do anything else because each keyboard(wired and wireless) dont have contact.

I think you will need to call AppleCare or visit and Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider to demonstrate what is happening. However before you do restart the computer with a USB keyboard attached and do a SMC reset and PRAM reset. These resets may take 2-3 attempts to work. I have provided instructions below.

One question, what version of OS X is installed on the computer, your profile indicates 10.6.7 however I want to verify that.
