Icons on photos?

What do these little icons mean on my photos? See below:

Also, why are a number of my photos not filling in on screen but have a blank space instead?

Thanks in advance!

The Badges are described in Photos Help under "view and organize your photos"

Display titles, other metadata, and badges

Photos can display the title you assign to photos in the Info window, metadata (other information about each photo, such as its file type), and badges that identify whether the photo has been edited, had keywords added, and more.

Set Photos to display titles, metadata, or badges: Choose View > Metadata > [Metadata name].

I am using MY PHOTO STREAM and ICLOUD PHOTO SHARING but am I NOT using iCLOUD PHOTO LIBRARY because my library has nearly 8,000 images that I was building with Aperture until PHOTOS rocked my world!

My iPhone and iPad are showing the pics, but the iMac with Photos program is not filling these in.

Any help or suggestion is appreciated! Thanks,

Robb

I have the same issue, regarding no thumbnails for photos.

I discovered that if I went into a photo and pressed the edit button and then hit "done", a thumbnail was rendered. Solution found... Or so I thought. I then went through one of my smaller albums, gaining thumbnails, until about edit number 7, at which point random thumbnails would disappear... Oddly, no swearing at that point. Only sad bemusement. See if you get the same result.

I screencasted the issue and posted it to youtube here to clarify what I'm describing: http://youtu.be/f0rWgEmOGw0

Hey, nice work on the YouTube screencast...my non-appearing thumbnails are indeed non-appearing.

However, I can double-click on a blank thumbnail and the picture will appear; double-clicking again will bring the thumbnail to life and it 'sticks' where it should have been all along.

Honestly, I do not like this program...much prefer Aperture, but that's a dead horse to complain about elsewhere!

Thanks for the reply!
