MBP notes will not sync, OK on iOS and icloud webpage

Hi all,

I'm running a retina macbook pro on OSX Yosemite 10.10.3

The notes application will not download my notes from icloud to my MBP.

If I log onto the icloud webpage - my notes are there. If I access notes from my iphone or ipad, the notes are there. Everything syncs fine except the MBP. If I enter notes on my MBP, they do not appear on the icloud webpage or my iOS devices.

On my MBP I tried signing out of icloud and signing back in. I tried deleting my icloud account (from system preferences -> internet accounts) and re-entering the account. Still nothing.

I tried going through the notes app - Notes->new account-> entered icloud account. Still no notes appear in my notes application.

Why can I not access my notes from the notes_application on my MBP? This is particularly frustrating because Notes appear fine on all my iOS devices and on the icloud webpage.
