Q: Loading Bar Upon Login

Hi people,

I've recently updated my OS to Mavericks.

One thing i realised, upon start up and login (because i set a password),
a loading bar appears and loads before going into desktop.

Is this normal? Or something is wrong?

Need help on this... D:

Thank you.

    Mr. Gasp,

Your description sounds normal to me.

About the screens you see when your Mac starts up - Apple Support describes various screens that may or may not be displayed during the startup sequence.

    Hi Ferd II,

    thank you for your reply.

    I'm sorry i made a mistake, I'm running on Yosemite 10.10.3

My mistake, what were i thinking D:

Hmm ok. It actually disturbs me a little because

    i never had this previously.

The startup was much faster and there were no loading bar upon login

    after entering password.

So... that is why i got worried and not sure if it is an issue.

    Mr. Gasp,

    Are you using FileVault?

Generally speaking I would characterize the startup sequence in Yosemite as "slow." That having been said, you may want to start up once using "Safe Mode." You should be aware that booting into safe mode will be slower then a normal startup, and the subsequent normal startup will also be slower then you are currently experiencing. The OS X Yosemite: safe mode will have checked your drive, and cleaned caches which should give you confidence that your system is operating normally.

Another item to consider is adding RAM to your computer. That will not only improve performance, but decrease the delay that you are observing in the startup sequence.

    Hello Ferd II,

so sry for the very late reply...

hm ya I'm using file Vault.

i'll try and then see how it goes for the safe mode and adding of ram.
