Mouse and trackpad unresponsive (Macbook pro retina late 2013)

Hello,

I am having issue with my trackpad and mouse cursor; become unresponsive (completely). At first, I hard reboot was required to bring the mouse cursor and trackpad to function properly. However, now reboot or shutdown doesn't bring the trackpad and mouse cursor back to work. They were both working fine even after the OS upgrade(Yosemite 10.10). This is 1.5 years old macbook. I am very frustrated now. I have tried the following :

  • reset the SMC
  • reset PRAM
  • boot into safe mode
  • reinstall the OS(Yosemite 10.10)

The issue still persists. I have to use wireless mouse(magic mouse) to operate my mac. Also, I do see a bunch of kernel messages saying

"6/25/15 11:58:01.000 PM kernel[0]: The USB device Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad (Port 5 of Hub at 0x14000000) may have caused a wake by being disconnected"

Not sure what else to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013), OS X Yosemite (10.10)
