When i click on the apple symbol and ask "about my mac" nothing happens what can i do?

When i click on the apple symbol and ask "about my mac" nothing happens what can i do to get this info back?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

try repairing permissions then rebooting,

try rebooting into safe mode

Make sure the System Information application is in your /Applications/Utilities folder. That is the program that opens to display the About this Mac info.
