iTunes only showing 20 episodes for many podcasts

So, I produce podcasts for a living and I had a client mention that iTunes was only showing 20 episodes. So, I checked the feed and saw that Libsyn was still showing every episode. Then, I went to iTunes and YUP - only 20 episodes showing. Then, I checked out other shows I produce and noticed the same thing. THEN, I went to HUGE podcasts that I know have lots of episodes and they too are only showing 20 episodes (*** and Comedy Bang Bang). Does anybody know what's going on?

It's a bug which has arisen in the Store. Apple are aware and are dealing with it. It affects only the Store: subscribers in the iTunes application and the Poscasts.app on iOS still see all the episodes.

Thanks again for the help, Roger! It got me thinking, though: Can you point me in the direction of where Apple might share information like this? How did you find this out? Is there a Twitter feed or a status website somewhere that provides updates? Knowing where to find this info would probably alleviate stress for me (and anybody else in this space). Thanks so much!

Rob Walch, who works for Libsyn and so has contacts inside Apple, let me know about it. Apple have a system status page at

https://www.apple.com/uk/support/systemstatus/

but you will see it shows all clear whereas the problem is in fact ongoing - so it's not a whole lot of use. I'm afraid the only way you're going to know when it's cleared is to keep checking someone's podcast in the Store.

Your podcast shows episodes 54 to 73 inclusive - as you say, 20 episodes.

Your feed is at http://atlasponypodcast.podbean.com/feed/ . This also contains only episodes 54 to 73, so it's not a fault in the Store: it's simply reading what is in the feed.

The most likely explanation is that Podbean is, as many podcasting methods do, limiting the number of episodes which appear in the feed. When the limit is reached, older episodes are moved off the feed as new ones are added. There is usually a setting somewhere to increase the number.

This is not an iTunes problem. Your Store page shows episodes 14 to 25. Your feed is at

http://magicgatheringstrat.com/category/FoHcast/feed/

This also contains only episodes 14 to 25. You have generated your feed in Wordpress, and as I indicated above many of these podcast creations programs or services limit the number of episodes shown in the feed. Though I have no experience of WordPress, poster seogroup reported that this could be increased in Dashboard > Settings > Reading > Syndication Feeds Shows the most recent ____ Items. shawngordo's post here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7317665?answerId=29261836022#29261836022 gives a slightly different version of the same process.

When you have a problem it's best to start your own thread rather than adding onto an old one - you have a better chance of getting noticed: I did see your post in this case but it's easy to miss these add-ons.
